About

Jieshi Mountain, north of Changli County, rises to 695 meters at its main peak, Xiantai Ding. It is one of the few mountains near the Bohai coast that Chinese emperors historically climbed to worship the sea, most famously Cao Cao, who wrote his poem "Gazing at the Sea from Jieshi" here after a campaign in 207 CE. Qin Shi Huang, Emperor Wu of Han and other rulers also visited. The mountain holds old temple ruins and stone inscriptions, and the summit offers views over the Bohai Sea and Changli's Golden Coast. It suits hikers and history enthusiasts; reaching the top takes about two hours on foot.
