About
Tianma ("Heavenly Horse") Mountain sits about 10 km north of Funing District, Qinhuangdao, rising to roughly 300 m. It is named for a summit boulder resembling a galloping horse. Ming-dynasty general Qi Jiguang, who defended this stretch of the Great Wall, left several rock inscriptions here, now a provincial cultural relic. The mountain features stacked boulders, caves, and whimsically shaped rocks such as "Monkey Watching the Sea." It's an easy half-day hike combining natural scenery with Ming border-defense history.
